We are developing ways to increase the percentage of items we recycle and reduce our networks carbon footprint through a reduction in the number of trips undertaken to recycling processing centres.
To ensure that our network appropriately dispose of waste fluids we undertake auditing of their facilities through independent specialists and we are working to increase the independent garage markets understanding of alternative uses for the fluids, Servicing Stop look at this as an opportunity to support the independent garage market in this area and have our network as a market leader in efficiency and sustainability.
Motor oil picks up a variety of hazardous contaminants when used in engines and transmissions. These contaminants include lead, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, dioxins, benzene and polycyclic aromatics. If oil and other waste fluids are not treated and recycled appropriately and then released into the environment, they can harm humans, plants, animals, fish and shellfish
We have appointed an Environmental Officer to promote and monitor our performance and push our network to meet the difficult targets we have set and to help us with our environmental efforts, all we ask from you is a small surcharge of 3% or a minimum environmental surcharge fee of £8.99 + VAT which goes towards recycling and treatment costs. You will see this itemised in your bill as "environmental surcharge".
